Privacy Policy for Q2048

QuarkVortex Labs ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and disclosed by Q2048 ("the App"). This Privacy Policy applies solely to the App and its related services.
1. Information We Collect
The App does not ask for your name, email address, or other contact details, and it has no user accounts of its own. The only data the App sends to a server we operate is the license check described under "Google Play Integrity API & Firebase App Check" below. Everything else is handled by the Google services listed in this section, which may collect information used to identify you or your device.
Data Stored on Your Device
Your scores, best tiles, game statistics, saved (in-progress) games, and settings (sound, haptics, and theme) are stored locally on your device. The App also creates a random identifier for your installation, used only to combine your lifetime statistics correctly when you play on more than one device. It is not derived from your device's hardware identifiers and is not used for tracking or advertising.
Google Play Games Services
The App integrates with Google Play Games Services to provide global leaderboards, achievements, and cloud save. When you sign in with your Google Play Games account, Google collects data in accordance with its privacy policy. The App submits your scores and achievement progress to Google Play Games, and saves a copy of the gameplay data described above to your Google Play Games cloud save so your progress syncs across devices. The App reads your Google Play Games player ID and stores it on your device, only to detect when a different account signs in so that one player's progress is never mixed into another's. Your leaderboard display name and avatar are shown by Google Play Games; the App does not read or store them.
Google AdMob
The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and process certain data to serve ads, including:
- Advertising ID: Your device's advertising identifier, used to serve personalized ads (where consent is given) and to measure ad performance.
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, screen size, and network connection type.
- Usage data: Information about how you interact with ads shown in the App.
On devices that support it, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may also use Android's Privacy Sandbox APIs (such as Topics and Attribution Reporting) for ad selection and measurement. Ads in the App are limited to content suitable for teens.
Where required by law (e.g., in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), the App asks for your consent before serving personalized ads, using the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP). You can change or withdraw your consent at any time in the App under Settings > Privacy > Ad Privacy & Consent. Elsewhere, the same option takes you to your device's ad settings.
Google Play Billing
The App offers an optional in-app purchase ("Remove Ads") processed through Google Play Billing. When you make a purchase, Google processes the transaction. We receive confirmation of your purchase status (whether the "Remove Ads" entitlement is active) but do not receive or store your payment details (such as credit card numbers). Purchase history is managed by Google Play.
Google Play Integrity API & Firebase App Check
The App uses the Google Play Integrity API and Firebase App Check to verify that it was installed from Google Play and is running unmodified on a genuine device. When the App starts, it sends a Play Integrity token to our verification server, which runs on Google Cloud Functions. The server checks the token and logs the result: whether the install is licensed, whether the app and device are recognized by Google Play, the Play Protect status, and a general device-activity level. These logs contain no name, email address, or account identifier. Like any web service, Google Cloud also records each request's IP address in its standard request logs. This data is used solely to detect pirated or tampered copies of the App, is not used for tracking or advertising, and is kept for up to 30 days.
Other Google Play Features
The App may use Google Play's in-app review prompt (to ask for a rating) and in-app updates (to offer a newer version). These are provided by Google Play under Google's privacy policy; we do not receive any data from them.
Sharing Results
If you choose to share a game result, the App creates an image of your result card on your device and passes it to the app you pick through Android's share menu. Nothing is sent to us.
2. How We Use Information
Information collected by the App and the services above is used solely for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the App's features (such as tracking your high scores, displaying leaderboards, and syncing progress across devices).
- To serve advertisements and measure their effectiveness (for users who have not purchased the "Remove Ads" option).
- To process in-app purchases and verify purchase entitlements.
- To verify the integrity and authenticity of the App installation for security purposes.
- To fix bugs and improve performance, using the aggregated, anonymous crash and performance reports Google Play provides to developers (Android vitals). The App contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDK of its own.
3. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. Please review their respective privacy policies:
- Google Privacy Policy (covers Google Play Games, Play Billing, Play Integrity, Firebase, and Google Cloud)
- Google Advertising Privacy (covers AdMob ad personalization and data use)
- Google Play Terms of Service
4. Ad Personalization & Opt-Out
You can opt out of personalized advertising in either of these ways:
- In the App: Settings > Privacy > Ad Privacy & Consent.
- On your device: open your device's ad settings (usually Settings > Google > Ads, or Settings > Security & privacy > Ads on some devices) and choose "Delete advertising ID" (Android 12 and later) or "Opt out of Ads Personalization".
Alternatively, you can remove all ads permanently by purchasing the "Remove Ads" option within the App. Once your purchase is confirmed, the App no longer initializes the ad SDK or requests any ads.
5. Data Security
We value your trust in providing us with any necessary information. We strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Gameplay data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App, and, if you sign in to Google Play Games, in your Google Play Games cloud save. Game data is excluded from Android's automatic device backups.
Settings > Delete All Data removes your scores, statistics, and saved games from your device and from your Google Play Games cloud save. Your sound, haptics, and theme settings are kept.
Leaderboard scores and achievements are stored by Google Play Games, not by the App. To remove them, open the Play Store > your profile icon > Settings > General > Play Games Profile > Privacy & Settings > Delete profile & game data.
License-check logs on our verification server are deleted automatically after 30 days. Third-party services retain data according to their own retention policies.
7. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to take necessary actions.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
